Eat More and Weigh Less

Poeple go on a diet when they get fat. It’s almost as predictable as the sun rising up in the east. It stands to reason that people who put on weight should go on a diet. After all, the reason you put on weight is because you’re eating too much. Nevertheless, while you go out and in of the dieting game, you may notice that it’s not as effective as it used to be. Some peoplewould even believe that the more they go on a diet plan, the fatter they got. They feel like complete failures but what they don’t know is that it is not them. It is the diet that actually made them fail.

The body would always strive for balance. The body thinks that it doesn’t have sufficient calories to function when you go on a diet. In order to manage this shortage, the body slows down metabolism. The body also initiates fat storage at this stage. At first, dieting gave you the weight loss you were aiming for. As the pattern was repeated over and over again, the results became disappointing. The body will then begin to anticipate periods of famine that each dieting process brings. The body slows down metabolism when you are in a diet. It also begins to hoard fat. The body becomes a very efficient fat storing machine. It prepares for the periods of famine you subject it to by saving some of the fat that you consume. This is one of the reasons why subjecting yourself to frequent extreme dieting does not work.

Going on restrictive diets affects your general well being. You feel exhausted, tired, demotivated, irritable or maybe depressed. Food sereves as the body’s fuel. The brain is especially sensitive to food shortage. That’s why when we’re hungry, we get headaches, moodiness and anxiety. Often, when you are not getting enough food, you get sick. You are prone to injuries and even bone fractures. Women experience menstrual irregularity. You just don’t function very well because it is food that fuels the body. When you restrict your food intake, your body does not function at its best. Your food choices should consist of whole grains, protein sources, vegetables and fruits and just a little fat.

When you go on a diet, you deprive yourself of certain foods. Most often, these are your favorite foods. Of course, you anticipate that after dieting, you’ll be able to eat them again. The problem with this is, you might be overeating later. This is the problem that usually plagues those who deprive themselves. They may not be able to control the strong urge to eat more than what you need or want. Physically, the body drives you to eat more because it just went through a famine period, namely, your diet. Emotionally, you will get obsessed with the thought of eating since you were deprived. This is one more reason why diets don’t work in the long run.

Eating a well balanced meal within sufficient amounts ensure a sound body. Consuming food ensures that your metabolism is running at top speed. If you consume a lesser or just equal amount of calorie to that of what you spend then you will not gain weight at all.
